Beneath its surface lurked a tentacled devil. The encounter left a haunting mark on Luna's soul, and the group wisely decided to steer clear of the dangerous waters and cautiously skirted around the lake.
Their path led them to an outpost of lizardfolk, who were preparing for an assault on a tower occupied by unknown invaders. Luna, utilizing her shapeshifting abilities, ventured ahead and made contact with the enigmatic Toad Alchemist and its companions. Claiming to be working on behalf of the Forest Dwellers, the alchemist presented the heroes with an opportunity to switch sides and aid them in driving away the approaching lizardfolk. The heroes decided to take this new path, and with the help of makeshift bombs, they successfully scared off the lizard invaders and secured the tower.
With the outpost under their control, the heroes gathered around to discuss their current situation. They learned that the Forest Dwellers had orchestrated the creation of a purifying portal that transformed the once-black lake's waters into freshwater. This purified water nourished the enigmatic Soil Mother, a powerful fungal entity residing on the plateau below, and nurtured her lush forest. In return for this service, the Soil Mother shared valuable information with the Forest Dwellers about nearby ruins that contained treasures, which the eco-warriors used to fund their ongoing battles for the environment.
The heroes were determined to obtain the message from the Red Oak while seeking to understand the true nature of the enigmatic entity and her mysterious forest.
On their way to the purifying portal, the group explored some ancient ruins, stumbling upon a few old weapons of the past. However, this journey also led to an unfortunate incident as Pip got infected with Unknown. Desperate to cleanse the disease, Pip attempted to use the purifying portal, but the magic of the portal reacted strangely with Pip's metallic body, causing him to get stuck in a rebooting loop.
Now, as the heroes prepared to face the enigmatic Soil Mother and the secrets of her forest, they knew that their journey ahead would be fraught with challenges and dangers.
