Scouring of Elysai

When the black dragon Ullaylth began to dismantle the magical defences of Elysai The Empire had few forces available nearby to respond. While a call was sent further out for aid, only the Cursed Sixteenth would be close enough to respond in time. Their attempt to stop the dragon was however unsuccessful. While they managed to stall it for a time, allowing a some civilians to escape the valley, they were eventually overcome. Ullaylth, in his anger, then cursed them to guard the valley of Elysai until the day the world breaks and the skies sunder. Having dealt with the soldiers it proceeded to kill every remaining being in the valley, turning it into a burnt out husk, now haunted by the spirits of the Cursed Sixteenth.
