For most species in the Free March, Solarians are
either aberrations or gods, and in both cases they
are feared for their unexplainable powers. Effectively
they are a sort of psychic that, instead of manipulating
the mind and common matter as does the Mystic,
manipulate dark energy and dark matter. Due to
the fact that most primitive species still have a hard
time understanding either of these two subjects, they
often prefer to stay away from Solarians, fearful they
may accidentally destroy worlds and stars around
them.
For the League of Worlds and the Meridath Empire,
Solarians are rare assets that should be watched
and - preferably - controlled. While the League officially
doesn’t often make any move against Solarians,
individuals within the government may take action
on their own if they fear there is a risk to League
worlds. The Meridath are known to have captured,
experimented and forced Solarians to work as elite
shock troops during the war, and some such warriors
are supposed to have escaped once the Empire
fell thousands of years ago.
Solarians should be extremely rare in most campaigns,
possibly reserved to NPCs only. If one or
more players wish to play as Solarians, make sure to
show during gameplay how they are both feared and
revered, and possibly hunted down in certain societies,
either to be killed or used as a weapon.
