The Mark 44 torpedo is an American lightweight anti-submarine torpedo developed in the 1950s to counter Soviet submarines. While newer designs are able to outrun it, those used around Oceanyka are still very suceptible to it. The weapon can be launcher from a ship's torpedo tubes, or dropped by aircraft. Air-launched versions include a little parachute to mitigate the torpedo's impact with the water. It is also effective against smaller surface warships.
