Initially fairly rejected due to the availability of MG42s and Bren Guns around the country, the RPD's popularity has exploded with the growth of 7.62x39mm in the Oceanykan market, courtesy of the AK-47 and AKM series. Despite appereances the RPD's parts are completely incompatible with the AK series, but they are compatible with DP-28 parts (which are in decent availability due to post-WW2 Soviet surplus sales). It is mobile, reliable, has a high rate of fire and is fairly accurate. The major problem that has prevented a much stronger entry is the fact it can only fire about 100 rounds per minute due to not having the capability for quick barrel change, which creates overheating problems.
