The deep, hidden city of the Abyss is the most glaring testament of the fact an ancient civilisation had a presence in Oceanyka. Two types of ruins have been found: one type seems to belong to a space-capable craft the size of the isle of Norfolk, the other was apparently built after the downfall. The curious thing is that it appears this ship crashed only a few years after the warpstone impact event, suggesting a strong link. Furthermore, it appears liquefied warpstone is a source of energy in many precursor machines. Lastly, precursor technology becomes more and more primitive as geological time passes. It seems the precursor survivors were in a full out war against the warped and distorted ecosystem of post-event Oceanyka and ultimately perished. No fossilised or preserved remains have been found, but they may have been very similar in exterior physiology to humans. Throughout Oceanykan history many artifacts have been found and used, resulting in myths of godlike powers or metallic daemons. Regardless, the sites where precursor construction can be found are rare and most have been dug out already. But there seem to be a lot hidden under the Earth, which is a logical protective barrier against the horrors of nature. Therefore no one knows for certain the extent of precursor settlement.
