Originating from the very outskirts of the Tasmanian hellscape, where life clings on to existence, yaramayans (colloquially known in Australia as "goblins") are a sentient race of humanoids distantly related to the Ferozen. Though much smaller, rarely above a metre in height, yaramayans are fairly strong and extremely physically durable. Their name comes from the Aboriginal "yara-ma-yha-who", a mythical small devil. Historically they constructed settlements inside of Tasmania's mountain ranges, isolating themselves from the much stronger Ferozen fiefdoms outside. Goblins can reproduce and mature in a fraction of the time it would take a normal human, though their lifespan is equally short at an average life expectancy of 30 years (accounting for modern sanitation and medicine). Unlike the Ferozen which adapted well to industrial society, yaramayans mostly continue to live in ethnically homogenous tribes, being extremely discriminated against in most places. Their societies are kakistocratic, choosing leaders through a series of duels. Sometime during the Oceanykan Dark Ages, many yaramayans migrated to mainland Australia, and began populating its more sparse rural areas, the mountains of the Great Dividing Range and the Underdown. Human rights activists have lobbied for their inclusion into the Oceanykan Constitution and the Human Rights Charter, as they are not traditionally considered "xenohumans" by Oceanykan society, but rather sentient animals.
