The Ordnance ML 3-inch Mortar is Britain's standard medium mortar weapon since before WW2. Unlike many of its contemporaries, it is a descendant of the Stokes 3-inch mortar, and not of the French Brandt designs. This was a critical liability, as it meant British mortar units early in the war were severely outranged by German, and later Soviet, designs. This issue was later fixed through the use of more modern propellants, and more of them. As with many British weapons, it was adopted by the Oceanykan Federal Army during the Civil War and used extensively.
