When the NSDAP was expelled from Europe, its armies and leadership decimated for their crimes against humanity and their great conspiracy against the Allies, its survivors found refuge in many places throughout the world: Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, the Confederate States of America, etc. But Adolf Hitler had prepared a last stand plan; the depths of the Congo basin. Heinrich Himmler, commander of the Schutzstaffel and the successor of the "Bavarian Fuhrer", escaped. Only his top scientists, esoterists, administrators and aides accompanied him, alongside the Waffen SS' most zealous soldiers. They established themselves in the darkest recess of Mittelafrika, where the German authorities could never find them.
For around 20 years, they have waged an unwinnable war against everyone around them; sworn enemies of the anti-colonial popular movements of Africa, the democratic West, and the communist East, they have no allies either locally or abroad. But in this time, they have perfectioned guerilla strategy and tactics, capturing and indoctrinating white African settlers to fill the ranks of the Waffen SS, while enslaving the locals into a caste of military servitude. In the 1960s, when many of Africa's nations began gaining independence, local authorities became increasingly unable to rule over vast swathes of the Congolese jungle, which international observers have dubbed "the Black Zone".
In the Black Zone, the Schutzstaffel reigns with an iron fist and quasi-religious zeal that is only rivalled by the increasingly popular Islamist fundamentalists. A formal caste system has been established with "pure Aryans" at the top, other Europeans right after, local collaborators at the near end and enslaved Africans at the very bottom. They source their weaponry and ammunition from the sale of drugs and blood-stained precious gems on the black market, often at extremely competitive prices, as well as being hired by Africa's many warlords for mercenary work. However, in 1956, this modus operandi changed significantly, with the discovery and colonisation of Hyberborea. In the other side of the portal leading to this new world, The Aryan Empire was established, with Heinrich Himmler crowning himself as Kaiser Heinrich VIII.
