The Imperial Domain of Kaiser-Willhelmsland, known in English-speaking circles as German New Guinea, is a Kaiserliche Kolonialverwaltung (imperial colonial domain) of the German Empire, located in the easternmost end of the Malay Archipelago. It is primarily managed by Governeur-Admiral Armin Zimmermann of the Kaiserliche Marine, which uses the island as its base of operations for the infamous Far East Fleet, known amongst other things for its aeronaval attack on the pirate state of Farenday in the early 1960s. While the Papuan Peninsula region (also known as the Bird's Tail Peninsula) is heavily militarised and houses a great number of German military installations, as well as the capital city of Port Hahl, anything to the west of that is infested by Oceanykan pirates, which base many of their operations on the relatively lawless island, both on the German and the Indonesian side. Notably, Kaiser-Willhelmsland was settled by a large number of Germans (approximately 400,000 German-descended citizens), which primarily live in Port Hahl or in homesteads within the Bird's Tail Peninsula.
