The Bass Strait Naval Complex is a collection of shipyards, oil fields, refineries, factories and naval bases which interconnect to form the Red Navy's industrial backbone. Most of its shells, missiles, cannons, torpedoes, radars, electronic systems, airframes, engines, powerplants and hulls are fabricated wholly or partially in this region, which sets it apart from other naval forces within the Oceanykan Federation (constantly struggling with resupply and maintenance). This has allowed Oceanyka to field the most potent navy of the Canton Protocol in the Pacific. The BSNC also produces large amounts of naval supplies and industrial goods for the civilian market, which make up a majority of Melbourne's economy. Fossil fuel products, merchant ships and passenger aircraft are the city's most important exports, and are all part of the BSNC's supply chain.
Its creation was one of Alan Redfort's primary objectives, as part of his agenda to transform the Oceanykan Federation into a modern, sovereign nation.
