High Explosive Anti-Tank, Fin Stabilised is a type of HEAT shell which is stabilised mid-air by fins instead of by rifling. These shells were designed to be shot out of smoothbore cannons, though western HEAT-FS shells limit the effects of rifling to prevent the penetrating jet from being dispersed by centrifugal forces.

Game Stats

When employing generic HEAT-FS ammunition:

  • Reduce EXP-DMG by half (4d20 -> 2d20).
  • Apply full PEN.
  • Reduce the Frag Rules rating by one level.
    • For example, if a 105mm HE shell would be treated as a Heavy Explosive, a 105mm HEAT shell would be treated as a Medium Explosive.

As HEAT Shells are Explosive, their PEN is not affected by distance. However, be aware that certain types of armour are HEAT Resistant.
