Pobblebonk is a common name for any of the species in the family of Banjo frogs. They inhabit every region of the country except excessively cold or desertic climates. These frogs are fairly common and reproduce quickly, but predators keep their numbers down. They are edible but their poison glands must be removed first. A rare mutation can either give their back stripe a blue or green colouration. The first is far more common and must be treated with caution, as this means the frog contains a potent neurotoxin. Poisoned projectiles may be made from this type of pobblebonk. The latter, which is exceptionally rare, is to be treated with extreme care as it means the pobblebonk is a biological bomb. When this blue stripe pobblebonk is wounded or agitated by a large predator (like a human), it will violently explode with a force roughly equivalent to 200g of PETN using natural high explosive compound. This is enough to sever a hand. Most importantly, it will contaminate an area of 10m radius around ground zero with symbiotic microorganisms, exceptionally deadly to most animals. Of course this can also be weaponised. Legends tell of blue stripe pobblebonks being thrown in a pinch, cutting down entire platoons.
