The Lopa snail is a common type of snail in Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. It is a harmless herbivore that thrives in humid, vegetation-rich areas and can survive decently well in more arid climates. Their maximum dimensions are around 42cm long and 2kg in weight (with shell). Many local populations include them as part of their daily diet, perhaps none as much as the Montagnards, whose cuisine largely relies on the underground farming of the Lopa snail.
