The T249 Vigilante is a prototype self-propelled anti-aircraft gun that uses a T250 37mm six-barrel Gatling gun. This self-propelled anti-air vehicle is based on a modified M113 platform. Its main weapon can fire up to 3,000 rounds per minute at air targets or 120 rounds per minute at ground targets. The T249 has a range-only radar and an optical sight for target acquisition and tracking, reducing its capabilities but also its complexity and cost. Such a system can provide air defence against low-flying aircraft and missiles, as well as ground support. Though the program seems to be going nowhere in the United States, of the six prototypes deployed in VIetnam, one was captured and mysteriously appeared in Oceanyka. Low-scale reproduction has already begun.
