The Karabiner 98k, or Kar98k, is a German bolt-action rifle that fires 7.92×57mm Mauser ammunition from a 5-round internal magazine. It is manually operated and has a turn-bolt handle, a steel receiver, a wooden stock and handguard, and a hooded front sight. This weapon was the standard service rifle of the Deutsches Heer from 1935 to 1945, and was widely used by other countries and groups after World War II. It is known for its accuracy, reliability and durability. Though not many of these weapons made their way to Oceanyka during the war, owing to Germany's unenviable logistical situation, following the end of hostilities there was a massive influx of them as the European superpower replaced such weapons with more modern ones, such as the StG 44 or the G43.
