The Remington Model 8 is a semi-automatic rifle that can fire various proprietary rimless cartridges, such as .25 Remington, .30 Remington, .32 Remington, or .35 Remington. It is made by the American company Remington Arms and was first introduced in 1906 as the Remington Autoloading Rifle. This weapon was designed by John Browning and was one of the first successful semi-automatic rifles for hunting and sporting purposes. It has a recoil-operated action with a rotating bolt and a fixed box magazine, a portable take-down design (meaning that the barrel and receiver can be easily separated for transport), a 22-inch barrel with a finned jacket to dissipate heat, a rear peep sight and a front blade sight, and a walnut stock with a pistol grip. The Remington Model 8 was used by some law enforcement agencies, such as the FBI and the Texas Rangers, and was also favoured by some famous criminals, such as Bonnie and Clyde. Though not as popular with American customers back in its day, the Remington Model 8 became a hit as soon as it touched the Oceanykan market, being practically the only reliable and decently affordable semi-automatic. Many a grandpa has some fond memories of this rifle, fending off bushrangers in the Outback.
