The MAS-49 is French semi-automatic rifle, an evolution of the WW2 era MAS-40 designed by the government-owned MAS factory and chambered in 7.5x54mm French. It operates on a direct impingement gas system, has a 10-round detachable box magazine, a tilting bolt, a rail for mounting a telescopic sights and a grenade launcher muzzle device. Like other service rifles fielded en masse, the MAS-49 has made its way to Oceanyka through less than legal channels. A large number of these weapons were especially acquired by the Viet Minh after the infamous Battle of Dien Bien Phu, sold to Oceanykan fighters, and the funds used to help reconstruct the newly independent North Vietnam.
Abilities
Common Attributes - National
They Shall Not Pass - French Small Arms (CW)
Once a firm ally of the West, then its most vicious enemy, and once more into the fold. France's recent history is a rollercoaster, as are the loyalties of its Old Guard. Nevertheless, the Allies' de-communistification campaigns have ensured one thing: the young French soldier is the most ardent anti-communist in NATO's battle line. If the Soviets invade, the old motto shall sound once more: "ils ne passeront pas".
EFFECT:
This weapon's damage is maximised when targeting an enemy within Short Range that has Sprinted or Charged in the same Round.
