Bulrush is a wild plant found mainly in temperate and cold regions of the Northern and Southern hemispheres. It inhabits fresh to slightly brackish waters and is considered aquatic or semi-aquatic. Bulrush is important to wildlife and is often dominant in wetlands, such as those in Oceanyka's inner-East region. The long flat leaves of the common bulrush are used for making mats and chair seats, and the starchy rhizomes are edible.
