The Shvetsov ASh-82 is an air-cooled radial engine widely using during the Great Patriotic War to power the Red Air Force's vast fleet of aircraft. With 14 cylinders arranged in two rows, the engine produced between 1,700 and 1,850 horsepower, providing substantial thrust for a range of aircraft. It typically powered iconic Soviet planes such as the Lavochkin La-5 and La-7 fighters. The ASh-82's durability and adaptability allowed it to withstand harsh conditions and perform effectively at various altitudes, contributing significantly to the prevention of Allied air superiority for most of the war. Following the war, the transition of the Soviets to jet aircraft left them with a large number of spare engines, many of which were sold to Oceanykan airmen.
