The Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp is an American air-cooled radial piston engine that was widely used in aircraft during and after World War II. This design is part of the "Wasp" Series, a family which culminated with the overpowered Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Super Wasp Major. With a power output ranging from approximately 800 to 1,200 horsepower, the engine's versatility and reliability made it a workhorse for various applications, including fighters, bombers, transport planes, and maritime patrol aircraft. Notable aircraft such as the Douglas C-47 Skytrain, Consolidated B-24 Liberator, and Lockheed P-38 Lightning were powered by the R-1830. Due to its ubiquitousness, many of these engines have made their way into foreign markets through civilian, military and black-market sales. In Oceanyka it is an obvious choice for retrofitting older airframes, and was widely used in native-designed airframes during the Oceanykan Civil War.
