The Dobrynin RD-7 is a Soviet turbojet engine that was designed by Vladimir Alekseevich Dobrynin in the 1950s. It was based on the NK-144 engine that powered the Tupolev Tu-144 supersonic airliner. The RD-7 was intended to power the Myasishchev M-4 strategic bomber, also known as the Bison, and the Tupolev Tu-22 medium bomber, also known as the Blinder. The RD-7 had a single-shaft axial-flow design, with a 9-stage low-pressure compressor, a 7-stage high-pressure compressor, an annular combustion chamber, and a 2-stage turbine. It also had an afterburner that increased the thrust by about 50%. The RD-7 could produce a maximum thrust of 103 kN on cruise and 157 kN with afterburner.
