The Mikulin AM-38 is a Soviet aircraft piston engine that was developed from the Mikulin AM-35 design in the 1940s and used primarily in the Great Patriotic War. It was optimized for low-altitude performance and used on the Ilyushin IL-2 and Ilyushin Il-10 ground attack aircraft. It had a V12 configuration, a liquid cooling system, and a single-speed geared centrifugal supercharger. The engine could produce up to 1,700 hp at 2,350 rpm. It was the most produced Mikulin Design Bureau engine.
