The Winchester Model 1895 is an American lever-action carbine produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. It stands out as Winchester's first true army rifle, and as such, includes a number of distinguishing features; a 5-round box magazine which can safely fire Spitzer-type cartridges, a bayonet lug and a steel guide for 5-round clips. Their primary customer was the Russian Empire, which purchased hundreds of thousands of M1895s in the early 20th century. As such, most of them are chambered in 7.62x54mmR, the primary Russian rifle cartridge to date.
