The Winchester Model 1894 is an American lever-action carbine produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. This model is distinguished by being chambered for round-nosed rifle cartridges, most commonly .30-30 Winchester. It is also the most successful Winchester rifle in history, with more than 3 million sales by the mid-1960s. Much of this popularity was perhaps thanks to the efforts of British colonists in Oceanyka, whom Winchester targeted in a wildly successful marketing campaign (in cooperation with continental authorities). As such, some have taken to calling it "The Gun that Won Australia", evoking the same spirit of colonial conquest which characterised its predecessors. However, it is also associated with national liberation, as during the Oceanykan War of Independence it was commonly found amongst revolutionaries, who faced off against British loyalists armed mainly with early Lee-Enfield bolt-action rifles.
