The XM148 is an American breech-loading underbarrel grenade launcher which fires 40x46mm low-velocity grenades. It was designed to eliminate the problem of M79 Grenade Launcher gunners relying on their sidearms when out of ammunition or faced with close-quarters combat, being put into production a mere couple months after conception. This weapon is specifically designed to be fit under the Colt M16 family of assault rifles, though it might fit most rifles with some modifications. Amongst special forces operating within the Vietnam War, the XM148 has become beloved for its capacity to rain down fire without encumbering the rifleman significantly. Thanks largely to the efforts of the Crimson Regiment, a number of XM148s have made their way to Oceanyka.
