Charlton Automatic Rifle

The Charlton Automatic Rifle is a converted light machinegun created by installing a handy kit unto a Short Magazine Lee-Enfield Mk. III or similar firearm. Its original design was based on the Magazine Lee-Metford Rifle, but this gun's barrel was unable to deal with the heat and pressure of automatic fire. Despite its ramshackle nature, it is very reliable and does what it's supposed to do rather well. The Charlton feeds from 30-round Bren Gun magazines and remains chambered in .303 British. This machinegun was invented in the midst of World War II, as neither German nor British security guarantees could be taken seriously. The governments of Oceanyka and Mardasia, both facing the threat of Japanese invasion and the former a civil war, were short in supply of small arms and took drastic actions to remedy this ailment.
