The Schmidt–Rubin Model 1896/11 is a Swiss bolt-action rifle designed by Rudolf Schmidt and Eduard Rubin, chambered in 7.5x55mm Swiss and feeding from a 6-round detachable magazine. It became the standard-issue rifle for Swiss infantry during the late 19th and early 20th century, featuring a straight-pull bolt action mechanism known for its smooth operation, precision and reliability. Its most common variant is the Mod. 96/11 version, which allows firing GP11 high-velocity spitzer-point bullets. The Schmidt–Rubin Model 1896/11 solidified Switzerland's already existing reputation for producing high-quality firearms.
