The Cold War is the greatest confrontation in human history, a time of intense and prolonged geopolitical tension between the Eastern Bloc ⚒️, spearheaded by The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and the Western Bloc 🦅, led by The United States of America. Since its beginning in 1946, the conflict has evolved beyond mere ideological disputes into a complex web of espionage, military confrontations, and proxy wars. Some historians consider it a continuation of World War II adapted to the realities of the Atomic Age, particularly the looming shadow of Mutually Assured Destruction. A great deal of nations have taken a stand; some, like The German Empire, have joined associations like the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) or the Pacific Containment Pact (PACOP). Others, like The People's Republic of China, have joined the Great Proletarian Revolution, spearheaded by the all-new Canton Protocol Alliance Treaty (CPAT). Most of the world stands in an uneasy middle ground, including The Oceanykan Federation, which has only recently gotten closer to the East.
