As Project LIBERTY advanced, it was realised that the Oceanykan Government could soon possess miniaturised nuclear power. Hence, it was ordered that Project GREYMAN would expand in scope once more, with a new Project TYRANT being formed as one of its sub-projects. In accordance with contemporary theories of limited war, it was believed that nuclear weapons were not the end-all be-all of armed conflicts. Project TYRANT was meant to transform Oceanyka’s soldiers into the greatest in Earth. It encompassed an extremely wide array of branches regarding diet, exercise, leadership, morale and other major aspects of soldiery, but the most technologically relevant are the Project’s research on energy weapons and power armour.
Prototypes weapons and armour manufactured by Project TYRANT were issued to and tested by the 2. Commando Regiment, itself administratively under the scope of the project as a sort of "super-soldier" program. At the outbreak of the Oceanykan Revolution, the scientists and engineers of Project TYRANT were perhaps the most staunchly opposed amongst the so-called "Mad Scientists" to the change of government. Most defected to the Australian Emergency Committee, with less than a dozen project members remaining loyal to Cestlep’s government. When the program was terminated, some of these specialists were transferred to the Oceanykan People's Army to resume their work (under much more austere conditions, of course), while the others went on to found Von Gruff and Atomic Armours.
