The island cluster sits in the middle of the Mollific Ocean, south of the Acassian Isles. Dominated by a handful of larger, verdant islands home to dense, mysterious jungles and myriad hidden villages scattered among the canopy, Koumazot is often referred to as the “Beastfolk Isles” due to the many tabaxi, lizardfolk, and kobolds living there. Famed for their nigh-indestructible seka ironwood and countless rare and difficult-to-harvest reagents, the Koumazot Islands were a frequent trade partner of all the free nations of the world, with this interaction primarily centered on the largest island, Bosaa.
The seas between the islands are rife with dense coral reefs that teem with vibrant life unseen elsewhere in the world, not all of which is especially peaceful. Indeed, most of the Koumazot Islands are home to particularly aggressive, territorial, and frequently enormous wildlife that make any journey on the jungle floor inordinately dangerous for the unprepared. Even the locals prefer to stick to more-patrolled treetop routes.
While the Islands are indeed home to a great deal of natural splendor, their inhabitants have nonetheless adapted and thrived here, utilizing extraordinary technology and magic alike that harmonizes with and relies upon the environment. Great towering structures buttressed by equally enormous trees, myriad cleverly hidden canopy bridges, and countless small “quality-of-life” enchantments and charms mark their society’s stamp upon the Islands.
