An elderly tabaxi woman whose reason for Exile is something she keeps entirely to herself, “Bala” helps patrol the carefully sculpted undergrowth maze surrounding Kas Selvess and is generally seen as the wisest member of the community. She has a slight ginger coloration with rheumy, blinded eyes and a sturdy walking stick. She seems to be friends with a variety of very willful jungle wildlife that often roost upon her shoulders or staff. Bala’s grim, terse temperament masks a quiet, deeply sardonic sense of humor and a great deal of warmth for those she believes to be under her care. Not that she’d ever acknowledge that, you rambunctious ninny! Bala seeks the full reinstatement of all those who have been Exiled, but in the interim, she hopes to guide Chirus towards being a good leader without too much philosophizing — his independent streak couldn’t bear to acknowledge that she is subtly guiding him toward greatness.
