The God Catcher
A statue with a floating globe above its up-stretched hand, caught in the middle of moving toward the Market. It has been hollowed out and apartments carved from its torso and arms, with the owner, a reclusive tiefling artificer, living in the orb. One leg has sunk into the earth, and provides access to the sewers. There is construction over its knee and leg, and climbing up its torso.
Perhaps the most famous walking statue in the city thanks to its dramatic pose, its proximity to the Market, and the self-evident magic of its existence. The statue depicts a well-muscled but impassive male human whose gaze is fixed on a floating globe hovering above its right hand, which is raised skyward. Its left leg is sunk to the hip in the street and its other foot and hand are pressed against the ground, as if trying to free itself.
When it and the rest of the Walking Statues went on their rampage in 1385 DR, Tsarra Chaadren (the Blackstaff at the time) turned the ground to mud underneath the statue and it sank partway into the ground as it was moving towards the marketplace. Over time, the people of Waterdeep claimed it as their own. Its sunken leg was hollowed out and provides access to Waterdeep's sewers, while its other leg and parts of its torso were similarly hollowed out for apartments. More buildings snake up its exterior, all the way up to its shoulders, and comprise a tenement that shares the statue's name.
The tenement's landlord, Addy Kader, lives in the hollowed-out stone that hovers above the statue's upraised right hand and is rarely seen entering or leaving.
