While the Field of Triumph is known throughout Faerûn as the destination of gladiators, it isn’t where most begin their careers. Many find their starts in the Monster Pit.
Dark, dirty, and dingy, this is where many gladiators without sponsors begin. It is entirely underground and stretches from beneath the building of the Fishscale Smithy to the basement of the Thirsty Sailor, passing through Julbuck Alley and Fish Street.
Without the sophisticated anti-cheating measures that exist around the Field of Triumph, it is not unheard of to catch gladiators cheating in the Monster Pit. There is usually a mage and a healer available for their services, but those are sometimes mysteriously absent during a key event. In addition to qualifying matches, the Monster Pit is also a favorite location for Dock Ward gangs to formally settle their differences.
