Former mistress to the disgraced and exiled Open Lord, Dagult Neverember, A talented painter and possibly a Bard of the College of Creation.
Cast aside when unable to achieve the magical vault that Neverember had become fixated upon, Kalain retreated to her tower studio in Nine Waters in the Sea Ward, living in solitude with only her paintings to keep her company. It appears that her memory of Dagult's requests were incomplete, and possibly tampered with. She had become convinced that one day, her former lover would send agents to eliminate her, mistaking the Raconteurs as those very agents.
This, and several pieces of correspondence in her possession, suggest that Kalain may have vital information regarding the final disposition of Neverember's Enigma.
During her exile, Kalain maintained a relationship with Dalakhar, a gnomish aide to Neverember, who showed kindness to the artist despite his master's cruelty.
