The Zerzuran Wordbearers
With no coal and limited ore, the armed forces of The Mashayan Dominion rely on archery for their main strength. Masses of archers in padded armor make up the main force, mounted and on chariot for maximum mobility, with staves or clubs as a common secondary weapon. Depending on their expected foe, they use bows and arrows of varying styles, including ironwood bows strong enough to unhorse steel-armored knights.
Glyphbound
Among them are specialist fighters wearing highly ornamented and magically augmented Zerzuran Ironwood Resin Armor. These armors feature permanently attached scrollworks that can grant flight, extra appendages that bear weaponry and shielding, longer limbs that grant reach in combat, articulated claws, poisoned tails, tentacles, moving armor plates, and more. These are theglyphbound, military Scribes who wield the most advanced and nontraditional forms of scrollwork as received from the inscrutable depths of Sahar. These scholars of magic have accepted the Majistirinto their hearts, and their loyalty is signed and sealed in living ink. They are fearful agents of the Majistir in their own right, and capable commanders in the field. Some believe the Majistir can hear their thoughts.
Quintlets
Units of Zerzuran Wordbearers are organized into subdivisions of 5, 25, and 625 men. A Quintlet is a unit of five, which is led by a Curator. Curators are accomplished glyphbound with augmented ironwood resin armor, powerful scroll techniques, and often multiple deadly paper creatures in use at any time. These units act semi-independently under the purview of their Chapter. Often, these take the form of a large chariot team, or a group enitrely on horseback. Curators lead while providing battlefield communications, adaptable weapons and armor, and even repairing gear as needed.
Chapter
These consist of five Quintlets, and are led by a Librarian. The Librarian acts as a unit leader above their Curators, as well as tutoring them in the myseries of Sahar as they advance in the craft. Each 25-unit is akin to a small clan, and soldiers are encouraged to think of their chapter as a second family. Librarians are highly seasoned glyphbound who have access to some of the most dangerous magics known to chartamancy. Their massive and ornate ironwood resin armor writhes with purpose and power.
