Celegwast

Neighborhood

A quiet area some miles east of the Boughery Quarter gate, the tumbledown village of Celegwast is paradoxically not so poor as it looks. It attracts a certain kind of retired knight who feels out of place among the comforts of Cloverview, who has become accustomed to a more austere military lifestyle.

Originally founded long ago when nearly an entire regiment's surviving members settled here after an errantry war in Altonbrun, after the fall of Armorcia. It survives as a bastion of old money and military virtue.

Lord Commander Henfax

Used to love riding, misses it. Owns a stable of prize war horses. DRESSED IN: gray riding boots, a silk orange sash, white pants, and a faded black officer's uniform. How Many of Them Can We Make Die!

Maximillian will play cards with you for a 20% off coupon. It is a game of wit and intrigue. Roll Charm+Fascinate vs 7d.

Yakko was Max's protege, he was a midget with an acid wit and a particular eye for the absurd and vulgar. This little chap would have entire companies of knights in stitches with his ribald monologues, and as the fire died, his guitar would move the men to think of home, and weep for the glory of their cause.

Last he heard, Yakko took a job in Daleview as Lord Castellan McKee's court bard at Aegremonth. This was about a year ago. The trip is only ten miles, but as a shopkeeper he doesn't really take vacations.

Despite this, he is quite honest about the big things (at least, the ones too heavy to lift) and is regarded as someone that you can trust with your life, although you'd be daft to trust him with a silver dollar. DRESSED IN: dark-green boots, gray pants, and a light-red fancy shirt. The Fraternal Order of Men-At-Arms

3 - The Fraternal Order of Men-At-Arms [Citizen's Militia Oversight & Training] ADJUTANT GENERAL: Mr. Gamel Furnace: [HGT: 4ft, 8in; WGT: 120 lbs] A man not much taller than a midget, very neat, shining clean, with sparkling little boots, brown hair gleaming and plastered down severely, with a center parting. His head seems slightly larger than his thin body. He wears a pair of spectacles dangling from a black ribbon. He is as bland as unsalted butter and a strict adherent to rules and regulations. Beneath his plain exterior lies the heart of a lion. DRESSED IN: black patent shoes, gray trousers, white shirt, gray overcoat. POSSESSIONS: small portrait of the King, pocket dictionary.

STRATEGIC MILITIA COMMANDER: [Imperial High Command Liaison] Dame Acelina Albyn: [HGT: 5ft, 1in; WGT: 150 lbs] A blonde, wiry woman who usually seems bored or irritated. At least in theory, her job is to coordinate with all militias and make sure all field commands are informed of their orders. This has never yet been required, except once as a formality during a plague / fire incident 20 years ago. DRESSED IN: black shoes, dark-gray pants, and a forest-green shirt. POSSESSIONS: small slip of parchment, bread, whistle, cloth sack with 8cp. ARMS & ARMOR: battle axe (w+2K, Slow 1), plate mail armor, kite shield

SERGEANT-AT-ARMS: [Chapter Master] Cassandra Engracia Serche: [HGT: 5ft, 3in; WGT: 160 lbs] Keeper of the militia chapter records. Another position that would mean anything if there was more than one. She feels the gentry are holding onto their power by resisting militias at the expense of the kingdom's interests. DRESSED IN: black shoes, a black belt, and a light-red plain dress. POSSESSIONS: sealed letter from a prince, The Tempest holy symbol, cloth sack with 5sp. ARMS & ARMOR: heavy warhammer (w+2S, AP2, Slow 1), heavy plate mail armor

LIEUTENANT COMMANDER: [Training Specialist] Henry Holland: [HGT: 4ft, 3in; WGT: 90 lbs] A midget who, despite his handicap, has an eye for training and a commanding tone perfectly suited to the task. It's his job to train the officers of militias so that they can train the troops. He occasionally travels to Cardigan, but otherwise is unoccupied. DRESSED IN: black fur boots, light-red pants, and a dark-gray doublet. POSSESSIONS: cigars (6). ARMS & ARMOR: rapier (wK, +2 Aim), chain mail armor, target shield

The FOMA is Imperial High Command's division in charge of training, coordinating, and ordering citizen militias. At present, its only decisive success has been Chalantion's militia, which was created 150 years ago. Most barons seem slow to accept the idea of an armed and trained populace for some reason. Normally, knights serving under a baronial regiment recruit, train, and equip soldiery to support their household colors. A militia can draw larger numbers and better training, but it's thought to undermine the military role of the gentry. This has made the FOMA officers and their families less than popular at court.
