the Alsuriean Solar Schism

268 years ago, (in RP 0 as we now call it), it was discovered that a second, smaller sun has always been hiding in the orbit of Karna. Some eastern religious scholars began drawing comparisons to Speed, who was for eons a potamic (river) deity in the west. This revelation of the solar aspect of  Speed elevated them in the eyes of some as an equal to Karna, leading them to take on opposite aspects in many ways to the direct, forceful, and easily understood solar cyclops.

Since the Cult of Speed has no widely recognized prime authority in the same way that the Cult of Karna has the Isle of Nierenn, every monarch claimaing a solar mandate has been freed to profess the better claim. In The Mashayan Dominion, mystics have been worshipping the ancient river aspect of Speed for more than a millennia. In the theocratic Military Republic of Altonbrun, military leaders have been working closely with their church and claim to be operating a direct theocracy as the solar Speed's chosen people. Most recently, The Reign of Eld in Orchalannon has maintained a board of religious scholars known as the Illuminated Seers of Alsur, who propound a faith more in line with the solar aspects of both gods as one. This is mostly to do with having the Isle of Nierenn as a vassal after conquering the State of Cerentuin.
