Sebastién is a half-elf Seer Mystic and an ally to Aurumvorax. He is best known for his talents as a gambler, which along with his characteristic appearance lend him the nickname of One Eyed Jack.
Sebastién first appeared in The Shadows of an Empire.
Appearance
Sebastién is small and youthful in appearance. His facial structure and build strongly take after the elven side of his parentage, although he has stated that his dark hair and his warm complexion resemble those of his human mother. He is notably heterochromic; his right eye is a dark brown similar to his hair, but his left is nearly white in color and lacks a defined pupil, giving the impression of blindness. Despite this quirk, his vision is perfectly functional, if not better than average.
He has little to no interest in fashion or finery, and despite having the funds to dress nicely, he prefers a plain and unobtrusive look.
Personality
Sebastién is cautious and prefers to explore all sides of a situation before taking any action. Despite this, he is a particularly casual person and rarely takes anything seriously – so long as he believes it to be incapable of causing harm to himself. Although he is generally distrusting of others upon a first meeting, he is quick to empathize and open-minded enough to find common ground with most anyone around him.
When faced with an issue he is unable to solve, his casual demeanor fades quickly, revealing him to be a profoundly anxious individual beneath the surface. However, given room to observe, he is quick to pull himself together and devise a strategy to remove himself from a difficult situation, even if this means reversing his loyalties.
Background
Early Life
Sebastién grew up in the adventurers' city of Peallón, where he was raised by an ailing single mother. Troubled by his father's absence, he was prone to introspection and tended to keep to himself in his youth. His psionic abilities would manifest in childhood alongside his budding interest in games of skill and chance, and he would practice his hobby on visitors to the city to earn a small income.
Psionic Development
After his mother's death, Sebastién took to traveling in Noravia and would eventually make the acquaintance of Constantin Ibarra, whom he would come to see as something like an older brother. Under Constantin's guidance, Seb developed his psionic abilities from a rudimentary future-sight into complex visions and the further ability to shape physical manifestations of his thoughts. The two would later drift apart, though he would retain a degree of loyalty to Constantin until the events of Ratcatcher in The Shadows of an Empire.
Abilities
Sebastién's best-known abilities are his quick glimpses into future events, allowing him to accurately guess future outcomes, and formation of psionic crystals, whether from thin air or from the bodies and minds of living individuals. During Ratcatcher, Sebastién successfully turned Rauli into a crystalline statue and back into his ordinary self without issue, and similarly was able to make a small fortune off of gambling in high-yield casinos and events such as the Cirque Sanguine.
Despite this, Sebastién has no notable combat abilities, and instead relies on his other abilities to avoid a fight entirely. When forced into battle, he is likely to focus on his own defense, or will find a way to escape if possible.
