After the incident in the warehouse Dun'zu between the High Shanty and Fish Town, Hjolmir was let out of his cell the next morning. He was told that since he was a weaver, one who manipulates the arcane, they could not arrest him, as that crime involving a weaver fell under the purview of the Ori'Kai, the ones who govern weavers. He was also informed that if he did not inform the Ori'kai that he had arrived within the Imperium and registered, he would be fined 10 ling per day until he was registered. Hjolmir asked where he would need to go to do this and was told that the Guild is located in the Horitsu Dun'zu and that any carriage driver would know where to drop him off.
The Ori'kai Conclave:
A massive domed building flanked by four grand towers greeted Hjolmir. The reception hall was a massive open circular room, with a large floating crystal chandelier that emitted sunlight. On the eastern and western walls were two massive murals, one depicting the scholarly and architectural wonders of the Arcane and the other showing the destructive and martial side of magic. In the center of the room was a huge circular mahogany reception desk, which was staffed by four individuals. Hjolmir announced himself and had to fill out some forms, as well as read the laws governing the use of magic in the Imperium. Once done, he was given a badge denoting his rank and weaver class. A few hours later, Gallow and Sir Mintra came to do the same. While there, they found Hjolmir in the library and reminded him that they were on a case. Hjolmir was reluctant to leave the library at first, but that changed when Mintra showed him the book they had taken from Elgath's safe and the cryptic glyphs written on its pages.
Information:
It took Hjolmir the rest of the day to crack the code and translate it into common. Once done, they decided to make contact with Cloud. She replied to their message telling them to go to the basement when they arrived and gave them a small code to announce their arrival. Once they arrived, Cloud introduced them to Gareth, a tiefling. She told them that he had been working with her for the past two years, acting as her eyes and ears within the Last Stand and Goya. She then showed them her wall of information, what she had gathered and figured out in the past four years. With the added information, they started to speculate about the case. Hjolmir and Mintra suggested that something supernatural might be involved, mentioning myths and stories about fey creatures fond of stealing children. In the end, the group decided to split up: Gallow and Gareth would follow the lead they had gotten from Elgath's notes, while Hjolmir and Sir Mintra would go to the Ori'kai library to see what information they could find on fey creatures, specifically those that had a fondness for mortal children.
Larkin, Oh My:
Gareth and Gallow decided to stake out Larkin's home. After about ten minutes, Gallow got bored and started to talk to Gareth about all manner of things concerning fungi. Gareth responded with grunts, rolling of his eyes, and a few more ales that he had planned. An hour after sunset, they saw Larkin leaving his home. They broke in and found a very barren home. The only thing of any interest was his Verdun bage, which showed he worked at the Last Stand C.G.H headquarters, and a small key lying next to it. They decided to leave everything as they had found it and left to follow Larkin to the Kanki Strip and the Lucky Dice.
The Kanki Strip and the Lucky Dice:
The Kanki Strip was a place where debauchery and wrath made their home, a strip of street where anything goes. The Lucky Dice is the largest gambling den on the Strip and where Larkin was heading. Feeling at home in the Strip, Gallow stepped into the gambling den with Gareth. Sitting at the bar, they waited and watched Larkin. After almost an hour, a gray-skinned tiefling approached Larkin. They spoke a few words, and Larkin was given a pouch. Gallow noticed that the tiefling was secretly handed something as they shook hands. Gareth tried to quietly remove the pouch Larkin had received and discovered it was empty. When he wanted to put it back, Larkin noticed and punched Gareth in the face and kicked him when he was down. Gareth pretended he was some desperate junkie, and Larkin left in a huff. Gallow and Larkin managed to leave the Lucky Dice without incident, but Gallow noticed that the tiefling that had talked to Larkin took an interest in them. It was close to midnight before they returned to Luna and Hope to share their news with Mintra and Hjolmir.
Mintra and Hjolmir had spent their time in the Library of the Ori'kai searching for information about creatures and fey creatures known for stealing children. One name they arrived at was that of the Hag. They decided to rest for the night and continue their investigation the next day.
