About Us

The isolated Isle of Luachmhar (pronounced like 'Lockmer') sits off the western coast of Ireland. Hidden for centuries by thick mists that cloak the isle almost permanently, it wasn't settled until the late 800s, a wild and independent place until the Norman conquests of Ireland brought it into the fold of the isles. Full of flora and fauna that had long gone extinct across the isles, it is a natural curiosity, rich with legends and tales of its mystical past. The last home of the Tuatha De Danaan, where Fae could be found walking among men, and where demons and angels battled.

Residents of the island, though, find these tales laughable; it's a place to live, like any other. A number of small communities populate the island: Tullach Port being the largest, a modern city created by the carefully nurtured bounty of the Island. The fishing town of Inishmore, and the farmers of Ballingort, are tied for second largest. There are also some eccentric and accepting folks in Glaisinkyl, which sits in the heart of the still wild woods. Glaisinkyl is also home to a research hub that studies the peculiarities of the Island. To most, it's simple a somewhat isolated home, no different than the rest of Ireland.

Reality, however, falls somewhere in the middle. The island's isolation makes it the ideal home for any folk who wish to avoid prying eyes; Faerie, Cambion, Nephilim, Genie, Werewolf, and even Vampire may be found along its shores (just to name a few). This has long been the case, and many otherwise mortal natives of the island have "supernatural" ancestors somewhere along their family line, even if they don't know it.

The island has long been a haven for all sorts, mortal and otherwise. They all work to keep hidden the remnants of what once was, for only in secrecy can they survive the modern world. This balance is maintained by the Slingers, an order of mages who practically run the isle from the shadows.  Of course, not all who call the island home wish for peace. Monsters of both mortal and supernatural birth haunt the isle, at odds with the slingers: from fickle Fae and wild beasts of myth, to human mages and forgotten gods.

It's a strange place, one of the only remaining fragments left of the world where man and myth walk alongside each other. Tales and legends speak of great heroes and their triumphs, and of ancient evils and strange artifacts. Will yours be the next name added to song, or will you work to maintain the balance from the shadows?  Perhaps yours will be the hand that upsets the order for your own ends.

Anything can happen here, where legend is reality.

The year is 201X, and the setting is mostly just the world as we know it, on this isolated little island where there happens to be a bit of magic in the air.  Drama. Intrigue. Romance. A play-by-post living world. You are the hero of your own story, but are you the villain in someone else's?

This game uses a game-system called FAST, which is based on the principle of: if your 3d6 roll is less than the target, you succeed.  We use Google Sheets for character creation, and it's highly automated to keep track of everything for you. You'll need to be able to do some light editing of Google Sheets in order to play.
