Thought to be witches with the power to turn into a cat and a desire to steal the souls of the dead before it was claimed by the gods, the Cait Sidhe is a fae with a human form and a cat form. It is believed that on Samhain, a Cait Sidhe will bless any house that leaves a saucer of milk out for it to drink, and those houses that did not let out a saucer of milk would be cursed into having all of their cows' milk dry. In human form, they are small and lithe, almost small enough to be considered a little person. A Cait Sidhe wanting to defend herself would likely gravitate more toward magic than swords.
The type of cat they turn into is called a Shadowcat, which is a species of wild cat in the genus Puma. It used to live all over the British Isles, but is now extinct everywhere but Luachmhar.
Race: Cait Sidhe. [4]
The following will appear on your character sheet when you select the template.
Race: Cait Sidhe. [4]
- A Promise is a Promise: Whenever someone makes a promise to you (including if it's a deal), they gain 1xp. Whenever someone breaks their word to you, you immediaetly know. You gain 1xp, Leverage on them, and take +2 to your next roll to get vengeance. [1]
- Agility: You get +2 to Agility. [12]
- Animal Empathy (cats): You can spend a few minutes studying and interacting with any animal of that species to get a sense of how they're feeling. Once you do, take +2 to animal skills with that animal. [1]
- Archery: You get -1 to Archery. [-2]
- Athletics: You get +1 to Athletics. [2]
- Brawling: You get -1 to Brawling. [-2]
- Capricious: You are prone to mood swings, and your demenaor can turn on a dime. In a stressful or emotionally-charged situation, determine at random to see if your emotions stay the same or drastically change. [-3]
- Catfall: You land on your feet as long as you are able to control your body as you fall. If you do, you don't get hurt. [4] "
- Code of the Honest Ones: - Observing a fae (but not others) without their knowledge is considered an act of violence. You might as well have punched them. If a fae attacks as a result, it's considered self defense. - If you borrow something, return it in better condition. Stealing from fae is a horrible offense. - If you say you are going to do something, it's extremely offensive if you don't. - The words that leave my mouth are my responsibility; how you interpret them is not. - Elder trees are sacred and must be protected. Respect and revere the Eldernymphs. [-2]
- Compelled by True Name (Severe): Your True Name hits you at +3. The severity of your True Name is determined by your race, this feature can only be purchased as part of a racial template. [-2]
- Curious: You are naturally very inquisitive. This is not the curiosity that affects all PCs (“What’s in that cave? Where did the flying saucer come from?”), but the real thing (“What happens if I push this button?”). Make a self-control roll when presented with an interesting item or situation. If you fail (and the player can always choose to fail!), you examine it even if you know it could be dangerous. [-4]
- Disguise: You get -2 to Disguise. [-4]
- Dodge: You get +1 to Dodge. [2]
- Feth Fiada: This feature is only for those with fae blood. You can become invisible at will, but with some limitations. You must stand very still and close your eyes for three seconds to activate this ability. You are always visible to faeries and those with Second Sight. If you are in someone's line of sight when you activate this ability to become invisible, they can still see you. This ability functions as Glamour for the purposes of being dispelled. There are other ways to see through it. [4]
- First Language: You innately speak Sylvan natively, in addition to the first language you start with for free. [4]
- Hearing: You get +2 to Hearing. [4]
- Heavy Weapons: You get -1 to Heavy Weapons. [-2]
- Size: Small: You are smaller than the average human, and everything in the "Small" tempalte is already included with this racial template. If you take the "Small" template on top of this, then you're even smaller, probably a little person! You cannot take the "Large" template. [0]
- Insomnia Tolerance: You get -4 to Insomnia Tolerance. [-8]
- Labor: You get -1 to Labor. [-2]
- Magical Aptitude: As a fae, the only magic available to you is Glamour. [0]
- Pain Tolerance: You get -1 to Pain Tolerance. [-2]
- Parry: You get -1 to Parry. [-2]
- Reasoning: You get -1 to Reasoning. [-2]
- Resist Influence: You get +1 to Resist Influence. [2]
- Second Sight: Those with Feth Fiada are never invisible to you. If you have reason to believe someone is under a Seeming, you can blatantly squint at them and roll Sight opposed by Disguise. If they are under a Seeming and you win the opposed roll, then their disguise flickers whenever you squint at them and you get a glimpse of their true form. Anyone with fae blood is eligible to take this feature. Anyone without fae blood needs to have a strong backstory reason in order to have it. [1]
- Shapeshifting: You have black fur, pointed ears, and a white marking on your chest. The cat form keeps the same weight as your humanoid form, and is about the height of a large dog. When you use your cat form, apply the template, "Shapeshift: Dire Cat." [4]
- Stealth: You get +3 to Stealth. [6]
- Strength: You get -1 to Strength. [-6]
- Stronger Compulsion from True Name: When someone uses your True Name to get you to do what they want, you must make a Resist Infulence roll. If you succeed, it's your choice whether to do what they said. If you fail, you must do what they said. In either case, you get the XP if you do it. [-3]
- Survival: You get +1 to Survival. [2]
- Taste & Smell: You get +2 to Taste & Smell. [4]
- Technology: You get -3 to Technology. [-6]
- Tracking: You get +1 to Tracking. [2]
- Unaging: You age at the same rate as a human to a certain "prime" age (probably around 25, your choice), then stop. You are immortal. [1]
- Weakness: You have an incapacitating supernatural reaction to Cold Iron. If you are exposed to it, you must immediately make a Pain Tolerance roll every minute. On a failure, your attributes all have a -5 penalty. Contact with the substance might also sting or burn you, weapons made of it might hurt you more, etc. [-4]
- Weight Lifting: You get -2 to Weight Lifting. [-4]
- Will: You get +1 to Will. [6]
- My Own Way: Your Climbing skill is based on Agility. Something special needs to happen in your Modifiers tab to make this go through. [2]
