session 5: A World Passed By

Inside the ring, Paws and Vic, stripped of their gear, put on a show that generally pleases the crowd. The pair posture and flex, but it becomes apparent that they are not on the same wavelength. They vie for different outcomes: Paws chases a good time while Vic sees an opportunity to gain information. Ultimately, Paws, billed as the underdog, beats Vic into the ground and wins the affections of the onlookers.

· Outside the ring, Searos becomes increasingly uncomfortable and stress-drinks. Kas attempts to pick up a serving shift but is rebuffed. The server she questions, though in need of some support, intimates that the business above carefully selects those that fill drinks ringside. During the fight, Kas stokes the crowd to a fever-pitch, breaking to tend to the bystander that Vic incapacitated in a bid to secure a patron for questioning. Too drunk to be fully revived, she moves him to sleep it off under the stairs.

· As the crowd roars, Harvey sneaks into the back room, where a flight of servants’ stairs lead up. He pilfers gold and a ledger from a poorly secured chest and places a big bet on Paws that the Bookie accepts despite being taken aback. Once the fight is concluded, it pays out well and Harvey gives his classic Kenku Goodbye as silently pads out up the stairs after collecting the winnings.

· Vic, revived by Kas, is frustrated at the fight’s resolution and very concerned he may have killed a bystander. He makes for the stairs and the nighttime streets above.

· Paws is roundly congratulated by the Bookie, who grumbles about being robbed and regretfully pays out a lesser share than Paws should have won. The Goliath invites the pair back, acknowledging that they won the crowd over in the end, and a good show is good business. Paws speaks with the pair at length.

o The Goliath Ringmaster and the Goblin Bookie have worked together for a long time. They each came to their current livelihood by different paths, but both know the value of anonymity and would much prefer the world to pass them by in peace and anonymity.

o Paws wrings out a portion of the Bookie’s tale in begrudging bursts. The Goblin worked for the Zhentarim but got out when the nature of the merchandise being fenced became sentient. A young firbolg, Tony, was responsible for the shift during his ascent up the Zhentarim ranks. The final straw for the Bookie was an overheard meeting between Tony and a white-masked, red-robed figure on the other side of a mirror.

o Angry that the Goliath has remained silent this whole time, the Bookie barks that perhaps Paws should swivel her focus to the Ringmaster who, the Bookie sputters, was Guard Captain of Daggerford before Roallet.

· As Kas tries to maneuver her friends out of the underground fight club, Paws tips the Goblin lavishly, much to his astonishment. Above, Vic wanders Daggerford’s streets, bloodied, without his gear, unmoored. During his aimless meandering, his feet slow and he looks up. Before him, the steps to Daggerford’s Temple of Lathander climb up to a tall, well-kept stone edifice, its interior light and wafting incense cutting through the cold night like a lighthouse spied from the sea.

Kasianagot rejected on serving. should have asked to take her place.

claw marks on Vic . people are starting to look in Vics and paws direction.

Kas wants to heal some people and prep. Send out Prestidigitation and cheer on both sides from both sides.

goliath is boss.

kas will stand to the side of the ring. and will yell for Vic and Paws and use Prestidigitation to create a more exciting environment. success

Vic is playing mean for the show.

paws is ruthless. Vic is making a show with her.

there is a cheer for Cat. vic tosses paws at an audience member.

audience member crashes into harvey's chair and it breaks.

searos drinking. paws too.

Kas laughs. paws tries to make the crowd cheer. Kas Prestidigitation .

vic is causing chaos. messing with audience members.

knocked out a person. I'll get him up. he is DEAD, only i know. vic got them annoyed.

harvey is confused. everyone is confused.

I don't want the crowd to know so I play it off and "help" the dude up and drag him to under the stairs. slowly but surely. pretending to be a bit drunk. cheering on paws. going the long way round not past the golaith.

Paws- "okay kas can heal you "and then slam Vic's face into the ground.

hides the person and starts handing out beers to nearby people. 1 mad person smash my beer. and chugs. very mad about the loss. he seemed to liek the beer so yay!

I hand Vic a beer. he laughs about miscommunication and used to being with a team that could work really well together.

Vic doesn't mind that he killed a dude. Do I like him? IDK. that was kinda rude.

I should get everyone out. we were involved in a bar death.

Paws collects her winnings and tries to strike up a conversation about the fire by the docks.

ledger is missing.

goliath invites paws back to fight again. vic too. light on payment for now b/c ledger missing.

paws requests information in a very not smooth way about the cobbler shop.

i try to weed out that kind of clientele. no people who work at cobbler shops here. Golaith looks at the bookey who avoids his eyes.

Bookey is odd. The bookey used to be a part of it.

got in and then out when things started getting weird. got out when they started dealing in live merch.

Paws mentions that she is friends with Roallet and now the goblin looks at the goliath who avoids his eye.

not in the city. most likely anyone who did this left town.

sticks his head out the door and calls over harvey.

kas is trying to get her friends out.

Vic is actually secretly upset that he killed someone. he put up a front to me. IDK THIS. he is spiraling. this is how you get fired. not trusting people. end up in a monastery. they pulled you out of this. why would you go back. wandering. captain of the guard.

goblin tells paws more. he is old. it was years. when the weird stuff started with the animals, there was another character that was rising him the ranks. wanted to be head honcho. a big reason he left.

Tony. shockingly unaverage firbolg. he had a guy. worked with one person in particular. the night he decided to make his exit. I was gonna do it formally with full notice. but cracked the door open and the weirdo was talking to someone in a mirror the whole time. this thing with a white mask, flat with just holes for the eyes. covered up in a big red cloak was talking to him in some language. can't, goblin or common. wasn't gonna interrupt so GTFO'd.

Paws prattle outs several languages to see if any are familiar. goblin really doesn't wanna remember.

paws give him more money again. they are gonna move the fight club anyways. tonight was weird. paws say to tell her the next spot.

the goblin is annoyed that the goliath won't share his dirty secrets.
