The ominously named city of Stranglehold is so named for its geographic location - for years being the only point of safe passage through the mountains. Being a dwarven city, it extends as much above ground as it does below. In the winter, most of the inhabitants choose to live in the vast - and warmer - caverns belowground.
The population consists primary of various dwarf and gnome types - including subterranean subspecicies. Over time, a number of subterranean species have found their way to the city for everything from trade to war, and are now part of the city's population.
