I spent several decades in the Hist-ss-Sil Jungle during my second expedition, cataloging the flora and fauna of the region. My first foray ended on a sour note when my books became waterlogged and the ink unreadable. A Bag of Holding provided the perfect solution to my problem. Let it not be said that I did not suffer for my art; embarrassed as I am to say it, this bag also served as my shelter. That's right, dear reader - I lived in a sack for several decades.
-Excerpt from Geographica Terrania
The Hist-ss-Sil Jungle is a vast water-logged tropical environment south of the Kosha'ag Steppes. The swamps to the north are inhabited by scattered human settlements on the fringes of civilized society, but moving further south transitions into a dense jungle of twisted trees, climbing vines, and grasping thorns. The jungles are dotted by freshwater lakes emerging from underground flooded limestone caverns, many of which are connected.
Stories of large diamond deposits in the jungle drive many fortune seekers into the jungle, but few return. Deep in the jungle are yuan-ti tribes living in the dilapidated ruins of their once-great civilization, and these lost explorers only bolster their ranks.
