Var, once called Var the Golden, was a prosperous kingdom near the Sea of Fallen Stars. It was known for its golden fields of wheat, its wealth, its safety, and its magic. Unfortunately, much of it was destroyed in a devastating war against the undead forces of Strahd Von Zarovich, around 300 years ago. Furthermore, during the Spellplague, about 100 years ago, Var sunk beneath waves. It is now a ruined undead-infested swampland. Since the Spellplague, it has become known as Var the Drowned.
Sir Dragomir of Var the Golden, an adventurer and knight of Selune, is from Var. He was turned into a vampire during the war.
