The party approaches the house and knocks on the door. They are greeted by a footman who introduces himself as Hadrian. He says that they’ve been invited to Ordan Manor by “The Lady of the House”. (Hadrian is actually the barkeep Boden. The entire party failed their saves and has actually been charmed by the hags already. This prevents them from seeing through the illusions of the disguised Boden and the true state of the house.)
Boden brings them to the third floor where they speak to the Green Hags through a brass speaking tube. The hag claims to be Lady Ordan, an Aunt of Orna’s. She says she can’t speak to them in person because she’s deathly ill and they might catch it. She also tells them that witches have imprisoned her niece in a magical dollhouse in the attic. She offers a handsome reward to the adventurers if they can save her.
“Hadrian” leads the party into the attic to the dollhouse, which is housed in a giant armoire and is a perfect scale replica of the mansion itself, but in much better condition. “Hadrian” tells the party that they’ll need to find a very special key to save Orna.
The party activates a sigil on the threshold of the dollhouse and finds themselves shrunk to about an inch tall and inside the Dollhouse.
The four of them find themselves in a two storey entry with a domed ceiling, to their left and right are staircases curving up towards the balcony above. Suspended in the center of the room is the monstrous taxidermied head of a Kraken. The floor is tiled in blues and golds depicting a giant compass, with North pointing off to the left when entering the house.
Cherish tried the door to the East, the one directly ahead of the entrance. Through it was a short hallway lined with sixteen suits of plate armor. Cherish decided to thoroughly search for traps before crossing the hall. With a nat 1, she discovered a trapdoor which was inactive, but she accidentally armed it, and proceeded to fall through, being knocked unconscious. The Law, immediately dived after her, also getting hit on the head, and blacking out.
Dragomir pulled some rope out of his pack and repelled down the stone chute, while Clio held the other end.
At the bottom of the chute, was a square iron cage on a stone island. To either side, North and South, were fast moving channels of water, flowing down into a seemingly bottomless round pit, at least 60 feet across. Suspended above the pit, was a wood, silver, gold, and iron cube, hanging by four chains. The cube was about 9 feet on a side.
Also to the north and south, across the rivers, were two natural stone tunnels. As Dragomir secured the rope around The Law, he heard something coming from the South.
As Dragomir tied Cherish to the rope so Clio could pull her up next, he took the jewelry from her tail, to use as rewards for her good behaviour later.
When the rope came back down for Dragomir he just barely managed to climb back up in time to avoid a rat the size of a grizzly bear.
Clio and Dragomir used lay-on-hands to revive The Law, and Cherish. Dragomir made no mention of the rat.
Shortly after Cherish wakes up, she realizes that her treasure tail is bare.
Dragomir successfully throws all suspicion off of him, claiming that her tail was bare when he got to her and that the jewelry must have fallen off in her fall.
Eventually the party finds a room with musical instruments. They strike up an impromptu band, but end up having to fight the giant rat. This is where it is revealed that Dragomir can play spoons.
The party explores deeper into the house and meets a Death cleric named Clobond. He has no idea how he got there.
Eventually the party finds a vacant camp in an in-house chapel. Dragomir finds a book and throws it at Clobond’s head, giving him a concussion for calling him a “Dirty old man.”
Meanwhile, Cherish notices a small figure on the floor above them and immediately thinks they might be the thief of her treasure tail. She eldritch blasts the figure (and maybe the figure gets shot with a crossbow?), killing the onlooker almost instantly.
The figure was a halfling cleric of some sort.
The party attempts to get through a locked door and releases two homunculi. 1 bites and downs Clobond while Clio picks the other up. The party is able to break both and stabilize Clobond.
The party eventually meets a fairy named Deirdre and she tells them about what they are searching for in the house.
The party rests in what looks like a young girl’s room. Cherish slept under all of the stuffed animals from the toy box, Dragomir slept in the toy box, Clio slept on the bed, The Law slept on top of the Canopy.
The party enters into a big room with a kraken head suspended above. They quickly figure out that the two statues need to face away from each other, and that there is a missing ship in a bottle. They go in search of the missing bottle.
During their search, the party all has strange visions
The party finds the armory and gears up.
At some point, they wander outside the dollhouse and find that they cannot go beyond the mists, but they can get out onto the table and into the rafters of the room.
The party finds a bunch of oozes and fights them. Dragomir nearly dies by digestion and loses his new sickle.
Also while on the rafters, they have their final battle with the rat.
Valor assists and is the size of an adult dragon to us.
Dragomir attempts to Blood Puppet a pinky rat, but fails and is insulted by the baby rat’s apparent wisdom. It also bites him. This leads to Dragomir biting and killing said pinky rat under Valor.
The party kills the mama rat and has some downtime. Cherish figures out that Dragomir stole treasure tail when Dragomir failed his deception to have her jewelry fall from the sky as if someone higher up dropped it for her. Valor picks up Dragomir by the head and shakes him, spilling the rest of the treasure. Sulking because his plan failed, Dragomir guts the rat and climbs inside it’s body cavity. Cherish tries to trap him inside, but fails.
Clio and Cherish rush to hide in the rat as well when a goblin the size of a giant comes walking towards them. They successfully hide for a little while and try to use the rat carcass as a decoy whilst they walked to the hole in the wall they came up from, but the goblin realizes and charges after them.
The party gets into the hole in the wall and defends themselves by chopping off the tip of the goblin’s nose when it got stuck in the hole.
