Expedition 30b - Koko's Account

March 17, 2022

The expedition once again braced and delved into the aqueous tomb, the sliding door was shut but opened by water, previously wine spilled had turned to dust but this did not happen with clear liquid, perhaps the elven which was a teetotaller as well, not surprising as elven wine often tastes like goblin sweat (so I am told).

Forgoing the interment, we decided to open, or rather smash, the other door revealing a watery room that appeared fathomless as an ocean, but mysteriously only a few fingers deep, the warrior, divest of armour lest they drown, investigated, casting my light of chaos on the great axe, examination of it's depths exposed a shiny object but also a number of crabs scuttling about.

Even with the appearance of a transparent surface between, the crabs loomed larger and larger and we decided to retreat, after breaking surface the crustacean army was a number of huge monstrosities with vile pincers and shells like steel, my lieutenant's arrow bouncing off harmlessly.

Crabs are not fleet of foot or claw and we easily evaded them, regrouping outside whilst the warrior donned steel, and we yet again returned, this time the warrior rushing towards the shiny object and grabbing it, but alas found themselves surrounded by the angry giant decapods who continued to hew great chunks of flesh, the quick thinking ash-man lobbed his potion of invisibility which the warrior caught and imbibed, leaving the crabs confused, their prey no longer in sight.

Again we retreated, but the troublesome stony statue guarding our retreat was set upon and badly cracked, but use of oil fire and guile we evaded the crusty hoard once again and regrouped at the camp, I called on the chaos to heal the warrior and we sat deciding whether to attempt another invasion before resting.
