Expedition 49c - Koko's Account

April 13, 2023

We ventured towards the tapping and rattling noise, a seemingly empty room lay before us, but a scream from behind made us wary, it was unwise to ignore as moments later a trio of ghastly bloodstained figures appeared, their ruddy claws tearing the fur from my faithful hound.

At once we formed into fighting at close quarters, making quick work of these deathless forms, one of them fell splitting open its stomach to a mound of copper coins.

Meanwhile the forward group advanced into the room and the rattling revealed itself as a serpent that lunged towards a retainer, its fangs sinking deep and injecting some foul ichor into their veins, we made quick snake stew of it but its erstwhile victim was in a bad way, our warrior decided to sever the infected arm but unfortunately they succumbed to their wounds, a physicians career was not yet determined today.

At this grisly spectacle, my own chaos army blanched, one of them soured at the clumsy attempt to dismember, as she had lost such a limb before, and wanted to leave, but was persuaded by a handful of coins, I need to remember this account as it will be docked later (when I eventually get round to paying them).

We drove onwards, hoping to meet a worthy opponent to lift the curse, and instead rescued a silly dwarf who had fallen into a pit, the rumours of his folk being able to spot these construction tricks appeared to be false, certainly our own kin often failed as well.

As we healed, fed, and re-armed our new companion, the columns in the room burst forth a number of skeletal figures bearing gemstones on their skulls, we smashed them quickly but several of them knitted together and attacked again, one of us shouted to throw them into to pit and my army did so.

Several more seemed to reform, but our tactic of entombing them appeared to gain us advantage as they were now reformed but entrapped.
