Adventurers

A large face with drooping rolls of fat poked its head out from between the curtains and the party leant back in surprise as what emerged was, to their eyes, an ogre in a splitting nightdress. It bustled around trying to make tea with its clumsy, oversized hands and seemed to have a very limited number of phrases which it used nonsensically. It didn’t seem averse to them keeping up their sub-contracted cleaners front, though. When Rarder tried making a fire and ended up starting to smoke the room out, he rummaged around to see what was blocking the chimney and pulled down a woman’s corpse.

Unsure whether the ogre was an impersonator or possibly a cursed family member, Konrad unsheathed Conciencia to see if the sentient sword could detect any stronger magical presence in the room, but the ogre interpreted the drawn weapon as an aggressive act and attacked. Together the adventurers brought it down, but decided to leave the scene of the crime quickly.

The next room was another bedroom, this time with two figures vaguely visible on the bed shrouded in darkness. Konrad called out a cautious greeting, and the pair flew towards the party, spectral faces atop ancient fashions. Mandras felt a cold grip sap his lifeforce through his wrist. The adventurers were able to dispatch the undead pair, but not before the dwarf was severely weakened.

After beating hasty retreats from some hostile cat-headed folk lounging by a fire and some utterly indifferent hairy ones bustling around a kitchen, the party decided to push on into what they assumed would be the central hub of the building. What they found was a whole lot of greenery: a path weaving its ways through thick woodland with great glass domes letting in the perfectly diffused light many feet overhead.

Warily, they started along the path anticipating the presence of man-eating plants but getting caught out when the first member of the group to go was the dog, who disappeared backwards into the treeline with a yelp. Deciding that it was not worth endangering the group to rescue it, they prepared to bolt down the path but that plan immediately hit a snag when Koko found himself grasped around the waist by a prehensile branch and then also dragged into the overgrowth.

Not willing to so easily sacrifice their cleric, the party dived in after him and started hacking at the trees as they started chomping on Koko. They dragged him away and back up the path, his as-yet-untested climbing sandals were torn from his feet. There was no helping the dog, and one of the cleric’s few remaining retainers also disappeared into a plant maw. Frantically the adventurers dashed back into the Corridor of Mirrors, their healer looking distinctly the worse for wear and usually-frontline Mandras still feeling the effects of his life draining encounter.
